"making from culture"

Making from culture is a multi-media collaboration between the architects, artists, and Florida high schools to communicate the relationship between the making of architecture and culture. The goal of the program is to raise the interest level of minority high school students in architecture by presenting to the students how a person's culture can be reflected in their creative work/architecture.

The program will collect submissions by artists and designers and develop a slice presentation and publication of their work. The publication will be distributed to high schools throughout the state at no charge. Lectures will be available to interested high schools to further discuss the work and the ideas directly with the students. The presentations will create opportunities to answer questions about architects and introduce a summer program from high school students. Additional funds will be pursued to initiate the summer program and travelling exhibit of the work.
