Financial Aid A variety of financial resources is available to students, including federal and state loans, grants, scholarships, and work/study opportunities. All financial aid is processed through the University's Student Financial Aid Office (SFAO). All students applying for financial aid are encouraged to file the appropriate forms as soon as possible—at least six months prior to the term of expected enrollment. Forms can be obtained from high school and/or community college counselors or from any state university financial aid office. Also, please check the FAMU Student Financial Aid Office Web site for detailed information, forms, etc. The role of SFAO is to provide assistance to students and parents by identifying resources to be used to help offset educational costs. Financial aid funds are awarded primarily on the basis of a student's demonstrated financial need, without regard to race, color, sex, national origin, or disability. Through a comprehensive financial aid program, administered and coordinated by the SFAO, the university seeks to assist all students who demonstrate financial need. While the full need of all applicants cannot be met, every effort will be made to assist students in locating resources. Contact information for the SFAO is as follows:
