Bachelor of Architecture Application and Admission Requirements

Items needed for admission to the BArch program include :

  • Admission to Florida A & M University,
  • Completion of a four-year Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies degree,
  • A minimum GPA of 2.75,
  • A one-page essay / statement of intent, and
  • A portfolio that passes our faculty review.

The portfolio should be sent to the FAMU School of Architecture, BArch Program Coordinator, Andrew Chin (and not to the University Office of Admissions). The portfolio should be approximately 8½" x 11" and bound in a firm protective cover with the applicant's name on the first page. Portfolios will not be returned.

Written and diagrammatic explanations of your academic work are expected. If professional projects are included, explain your role in the project. Graphic design, photography, furniture design, or art may also be included.

The faculty review portfolios on February 1 and November 1. Transfer students may need additional course work, to be determined after a final transcript evaluation. For additional information, please contact the BArch Program Coordinator Andrew Chin at (850) 599-3757.
