Policy on Maintaining a Professional SOA Environment

The School of Architecture is a professional school that prepares students to work in the profession of architecture. The environment in which faculty, staff, and students work is important. The following guidelines have been developed to ensure that a good working environment is provided for all:

  • Do not smoke, consume alcohol, or use other controlled substances in the SOA;
  • Do not exhibit behavior, use language, or post material that has as its intent or has the effect of making others uncomfortable;
  • Do not listen to music without headsets;
  • Do not spray aerosols, paints, fixatives, etc. within enclosed spaces not designated for such use;
  • Do not cut on desk surfaces; use only designated cutting surfaces like chip board;
  • Do not remove furniture from assigned spaces;
  • Do not attempt to adjust thermostats;
  • No pets are allowed on premises without medical documentation;
  • Do not leave personal guests in studios;
  • Keep all exterior doors closed at all times unless directed by instructor or SOA administration;
  • Secure your personal belongings when exiting the studio;
  • Do not lend your Rattler Card for access to another student;
  • Keep the doors to the computer labs closed at all times;
  • Store trash only in approved trash bins;
  • Secure exterior doors when exiting the building;
  • Follow all University parking regulations.
